It contains valuable biologically active substances: vitamins, tannins, flavonoids, essential oils. This determines its medicinal properties. St. John’s wort has a calming, antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and hemostatic effect. It helps with depression, stress, insomnia, skin diseases, colds, gastrointestinal inflammation, and cardiovascular problems.

I was trying to take solid, pretty photos, but I still couldn’t resist trying to identify more plants. I learned this is St. John’s-wort.

It is used internally in the form of decoctions, infusions, and also externally for compresses and baths. However, St. John’s wort has a number of contraindications. It should not be taken if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have hypertension.

It also increases skin sensitivity to ultraviolet radiation. Therefore, during treatment with St. John’s wort, it is better to avoid sunbathing.

St. John’s wort acts as a natural antidepressant and sedative. Helps with menstrual pain.
