How To Cook Bute Island Vegan Cheese

Ingredients:

1 glass coconut milk (250 ml)

3 teaspoons lemon juice

1 teaspoon xanthan gum

1/2 cup water

Vegetable oil for frying

200 grams of Bute Island vegan cheese, cut into the required shape and fried until golden brown

300 grams of all-purpose flour, sifted

100 ml warm water

Steps:

Mix all-purpose flour with half a cup of hot water to form a batter Add lemon juice and mix well. Leave for a few minutes. Put coconut milk in a saucepan and heat until it boils Add xanthan gum and continue stirring until the mixture is smooth Put flour in a bowl, add bute island vegan cheese cut into desired shapes and mix well. Transfer the batter to a plastic bag Pour vegetable oil on a saucepan as required Heat oil as it bubbles up Slowly dip each piece of Bute Island vegan cheese one by one into the batter Fry until golden brown.

Second Recipe:

Ingredients

1 cup water

2 tablespoons tapioca flour (or cornstarch)

½ teaspoon salt (if using unsalted butter)

2 tablespoons nutritional yeast flakes (optional)

1 ½ teaspoons agar powder (or 2 tablespoons agar flakes)

½ teaspoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon onion powder

Steps:

Begin by adding the water and salt to a medium saucepan and turn onto high heat.

Bring the mixture to a boil.

While you wait for the water/salt, begin combining the tapioca flour (or cornstarch) with the nutritional yeast flakes (optional), garlic and onion powders, and agar powder in a bowl until well mixed.

When your water boils, go ahead and stir in the dry ingredients. The mixture should thicken up right away so keep stirring it constantly as you add the agar flakes.

When the mixture turns into a solid pudding consistency, turn off the heat and transfer to a bowl so it can cool down for 5 minutes or so before covering with plastic wrap and sticking in the fridge until completely cold.

When your cheese mixture is cold, place it on a cutting board and cut it into cubes using a pizza cutter.
