A List of Keto Friendly Vegetables

Most people can easily agree that to friendly vegetables are really good for you. Vegetable like leafy green veggies, asparagus, and zucchini are very popular to vegetables since they fulfill these criteria. Not all forms of to contain vegetable so why consume them in a low carb diet? Low carb vegetables actually are loaded with all the good stuff: fiber.

In order to understand how healthy low carb vegetables actually are, let’s take a look at fiber. Fiber is known to help us maintain a healthy digestive system, including proper bowel movement. Without proper bowel movement we risk constipation, which is a leading cause of weight gain. So not only do low carb veggies help you lose weight, they help you keep it off too! Just make sure you eat plenty of them!

Not only do some kinds of vegetables load you up with good whole body carbs, but they also have a ton of good fat and protein content. For example, broccoli is full of beneficial fiber and is a great source of both. One kind of vegetable that should definitely be in your diet is the beets. They’re packed with both folate and potassium, which serve as valuable electrolytes and help lower cholesterol levels. And last but not least, one type of vegetable that most people completely overlook but are actually great for your ketogenic diet is cauliflower. Cauliflower is loaded with fiber, protein, Vitamin A, and potassium, just to name a few.

But let’s get back to low-carb keto vegetables. Why limit yourself to only low-carb veggies when there are so many tasty varieties out there? Chances are, if you’re trying to drop pounds quickly and lose stubborn belly fat, you’re craving carbohydrates. That’s where sweet potatoes come in. However, they’re more of a sweet soup vegetable than a vegetable, so unless you’re in the mood for a sweet soup, opt for another variety instead.

Low-carb vegetables also include leafy green vegetables such as spinach, kale, cabbage, and collard greens. All of these vegetables have significant amounts of fiber and antioxidants. Even better, you can combine several of these vegetable varieties into one meal by slicing up pieces of each and cooking them together (see my article on carb vegetables for more information).

Another option is to add a dash of herbs to your low-carb ketogenic meals. Herbs can add flavor to your meals as well as provide you with more nutrients. Some of the best choices for herbs include thyme, oregano, parsley, basil, and cilantro. Each of these herbs provides unique flavors and healing properties, which mean you’ll be getting more for your money!

Last but not least, there are a few items that are virtually guaranteed not to be included in any list of Ketogenic friendly vegetables. No matter how hard you try, you can’t go on eating bread, pasta, rice, and other white flour products. In order to live a healthy lifestyle that is centered around a diet high in vegetables, you have to stop treating food like one of those boring, carb-rich, artery clogging snacks. Carb-rich snacks can help keep your blood glucose level stable by keeping it low, but they’re definitely not good for your health. By the same token, nuts and seeds are among the worst foods for your health, and should be eaten in limited quantities.
